Color Word Test
Don't read the word. Pick the color of the ink
What is this game?
If the word "BLUE" is written in red ink, the answer is red. When a word's meaning and its color don't match, your brain gets tangled up. This is called the Stroop effect, and this game tests how fast you can beat it. Your score is the time it takes to answer 10 questions, with 2 seconds added for each mistake. Questions are fixed for each board, so you and your friends can take on the same set.
How to play
- A color name appears in the middle.
- Pick the color of the ink from the buttons below, not what the word says.
- A wrong answer adds 2 seconds, and you try the same question again.
- Answer all 10 to record your time.
Tips for a better record
- Don't try to read. Think of it as looking at a blob of color.
- The buttons never move, so learning where each color is will speed you up.
- Sometimes the word and the color match, so stay sharp.
